Why Oh Why Must We Cry?

My mother once told me, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." What amazing advice to have that we can now apply to this growing community of ours. Over the past four years Tivoli Village has grown to almost 190 units full of owners and residents trying to make our homes be part of one wonderful town home community.
Now, during these times we have had our share of problems. The housing market crashed causing many of our homes to devalue by more than $100 k; Pinecastle Jeep Range was discovered causing all of our homes to devalue by an amount we are waiting to see; sketchy renters, bad parking jobs & a change of builders have all effected the value of ours homes in a negative way.
Our next challenge to the value of our homes has now come upon us, but this one is different. It is one that we can do something about but only if we are willing to work together and follow that advice of my mother ... say something nice! As most of you know our development is close to $200k in arrears due to late and lack of HOA payments. Most of payment "issues" are from units that have renters in them but not all. We have many neighbors, currently living amongst us that have not paid their association fees in a consider length of time. Some have not paid in more than two years. Because of these lack of payments we have already experienced a 15% increase to our HOA dues and expect another raise at the end of the year. We are also at the beginning of a possible cutback of services.
The question is now, "How can you help?" You can help by calling, by writing, by e-mailing Sentry Management and Kyle Sanders (our HOA president). Ask them to follow our association by-laws and place liens on EVERY home that has a past due amount attached to their lot. Ask them to take away the use of communal property for people that are past due. This will prevent them from using the pool, the sidewalks, the community areas. Ask them to tow the cars in our development that should not be here. Ask them to STOP residents from running businesses from their home. I may sound like a hard-ass for asking all this from you but remember, this is a deed restricted neighborhood that we pay a lot of money to live here. Lets work together to keep our neighborhood the place it can be.
One last thing. We have had a lot of residents post hateful messages on our blog, exaggerate resident "mis-givings" and just send negative karma to our community. I'm asking you to just stop because if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
