As of May 8th there was another snake sighting in front of my house. A small rattlesnake was caught and relocated with little difficulty. This just points out the need for some open eyes as we play in the yard!
Yesterday a large Cottonmouth Moccasin was found near our pool. These snakes are poisonous and should be avoided at all costs.
From Wikipedia ... "Agkistrodon Piscivorus is a venomous snake found in the Southeastern United States. Adults are large and capable of delivering a painful and potentially lethal bite. When antagonized they will stand their ground by coiling their bodies and displaying their fangs. On rare occasions territorial males will approach intruders in an aggressive manner. "
We do live a bit in the wild and thus need to be careful with our pets, children and really ourselves. Like most animals, these snakes are not usually aggressive but when threatened they will defend themselves. I have an e-mail in to find out what we should do according to the state, if we run into one again and will let people know what I hear.
